Chennai rolled over Delhi in that second qualifier to take on Mumbai for the fourth time in the tournament.
The IPL 2019 final then saw the Mumbai Indians scrape through to 149/8 from their 20 overs thanks to Kieron Pollard’s 41 but a struggling Chennai failed to make it through, losing by 1 run thanks to Jasprit Bumrah’s 2/14 from four overs and despite Shane Watson’s 80 off 59.
It will be interesting to see how things go in the 2020 version of the tournament, with the teams getting smarter with their selections and strategies.
The IPL auction took place in December 2018, and now we know who will be representing each team as they look to be crowned IPL champions. As normal, during the auction, we saw some of the biggest names in world cricket bought by IPL franchises, and it will be great to see those players go head to head. Some will be returning to their old clubs, while others are starting new adventures with new franchises and it will be interesting to see how these players get on with new surroundings.
